Well, what a refreshing change. After years of "my kind" being grudgingly tolerated here on Tribe and/or summarily having our groups "vanish" (along with the email account of the group owner) over on Yahoo, there is _finally_ a place where we kinksters can truly be ourselves and be truly welcomed. I'm talking about www.fetlife.com. There are literally hundreds of kinksters that i know who are already over there, hanging out in a welcoming and vibrant community.
Folks, if you're way too damn tired of being "tolerated" (at best) by other social networking sites, please allow me to encourage you to get a fetlife account post-haste. I can be found over the as jay_wiseman Feel free to send me a friend request.

Tonight it took me 2 minutes to load your site, and it has been trying for at least 4 minutes to send you a friend request. And no, it's not my computer, I'm not having any problems here.
How did you get 138 friends in such a short time? -

Sun, October 5, 2008 - 5:30 PMI find the breakdown of Tribe's servers more of an incentive to migrate than having been"grudgingly tolerated"; I haven't seen or heard a peep about censorship since the New Regime was toppled.

I have been on FETLIFE now for a little while. As with ALL sites, it has a few ocassional hick-ups, but that is a technical problem and is usually fixed rapidly. As for the community, I am on there all the time! It is a wonderful place for learning, teaching and just socializing. It is the first community that seems to be "all accepting". The people there are real, not just wnannabees or "do it my ways " types. There are all kinds of conversations ranging from humor to how do I's. and they are non judgemental..... no one says it has to be done in a certain way. They may express thier opinions, but the don't try to make anyone conform.
Personally, I find this site to be great, as i guess you can tell. -

Mon, October 6, 2008 - 10:23 AMI actually like how it's a mix of Really Experienced scene players and total newbies. And from all over the country and Canada/UK, too. You end up sorting out a lot of bad advice but it is pretty easy to spot the fantasy admist all the cold hard detail from folks who actually know what they are talking about.
The GUI totally sucks. I finally got it down to about a dozen tribes that I'll allow email notifications for, and then I tend to wait a couple days to let the responses fill up so there will be something to read. And then I never go back to the thread. -

I agree, it's not all REAL people and there are a lot of on-line only types (which is fine, I was once one of those) but I have been able to log in each day and enjoy their threads...which are in great numbers. I keep checking tribe but really have lost interest. I start a thread on fetlife and find MANY posts at the end of the day instead of one or two. Yup, it's not as user friendly as tribe but I need me some community since I'm up here in the sticks! I'm under _kelly_ if I know you.
